Our gym/gathering days are the first and third Wednesday of each month. These gatherings provide a chance for our children to interact with other homeschoolers of all ages.  The special programs planned throughout the year often provide outstanding learning experiences.  And let's not forget how important it is for you as the caretaker of your family and dedicated teacher of your children to also have a chance at receiving social support and like-minded conversation.   Check your newsletter or the group calendar for upcoming themes and programs.

From September to May, Grassroots meets in the gymnasium at St. Paul's Lutheran Church...located at 6203 Vollmer Road, in Matteson, IL. St. Paul's is located on the south side of Vollmer Road, approximately 3/4 mile west of Interstate 57.

From May 31, through the end of August, Grassroots Homeschoolers meet at various locations throughout the southern suburbs. For further information, please email us.

Volunteers make a group successful. The more volunteers we have the more activities we can provide. Everyone is encouraged to plan field trips or other activities. Groups often enjoy special discounts or free admissions. All activities are usually more more fun for the children when they have peers to associate with. If you have time, ideas or special talents to share, the group would appreciate your contribution.

As members who appreciate all that our volunteers do, let's try to :

  • Be prompt. Calculate your transport time so that your entry is on time.  It's often disruptive to a Speaker/Function when latecomers arrive, it's also upsetting for you and your family as you may have missed key information in your absence.
  • Be courteous. Things happen, plans change.  Make your coordinator aware of your plans and obstacles as soon as possible.  Many planned events often have minimum/maximum requirements and each reply is relied on to meet those requirements.  Don't let procrastination stand in the way of a fantastic learning experience.
